Born into the open Jaw

Why? Why had it to begin so suddenly? Sonic didn't have the time to reach the actual place that was meant for the birth.
So he had to find a save seeming place cause many creatures just wait for a merhog and his nutritious young.
Suddenly just before he had almost born the first Sonic felt a strong grip around his wrists. Terrified he realized that this were the deathly tentacles of a giant kraken that had hidden in the cave near him. As he turned his head he directly stared into hungry shining eyes. To crown it all a single tentacle wrapped around the tail of the half born young.
Sonic tried desperately to get free but he was too exhausted and the kraken too strong. And since he was all alone no one would ever hear the distressed calls of the blue merhog and his young would die before they really lived...
